Dr. Shields is an Arkansas native who after graduating from Hoxie High School in 1991, attended nursing school at Arkansas State University. Dr. Shields worked as a nurse while completing his pre-med studies, after which he attended medical school in Kansas City, Missouri, graduating in 2001. He then returned to Arkansas to complete his internship and residency at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. Dr. Shields is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, the American Board of Preventative Medicine (specializing in undersea and hyperbaric medicine), and the American Board of Wound Management and Surgery (of which he is a founding member). During his career, Dr. Shields has held numerous leadership positions and strives to offer the best patient experience and care. He became interested in Pain Management after years of seeing patients in pain from the effects of trauma and chronic disease, and was trained in pain management by Dr. Meraj Siddiqui. Dr. Shields is honored to serve the community of Northeast Arkansas and be a part of the PTCOA family.
