Ambulatory Surgery Centers

Ambulatory Surgery Centers

Pain Treatment Centers of America (PTCOA) Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) are specifically designed to perform surgical and pain management procedures that do not require an overnight stay. The PTCOA ASCs have met state and federal licensing standards for quality care and safety and are approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Our highly skilled and qualified personnel will provide care. Because we serve only same-day procedures, we can offer services that focus specifically on the patient.

What Is an Ambulatory Surgery Center?

Ambulatory Surgery Centers—known as ASCs—are modern healthcare facilities focused on providing same-day surgical care, including diagnostic and preventive procedures.

ASCs have transformed the outpatient experience for millions of Americans by providing them with a more convenient alternative to hospital-based outpatient procedures—and done so with a strong track record of quality care and positive patient outcomes.

ASC Benefits for Healthcare Providers:

ASCs offer the ability for physicians to have increased control over their surgical practices by:

  • Scheduling procedures efficiently
  • Creating teams of specially trained staff for each procedure
  • Increasing their control over proper equipment
  • Ensuring facilities are tailored to the needs of their patients

Overall, the ASC benefits healthcare providers with workplace autonomy and increased control over their work environment and the quality of care not afforded to them in the hospital setting.

ASC Benefits for Patients:

There are two main benefits of ASCs for patients: care and cost.

  • Improved care delivery, higher patient satisfaction and reduced out-of-pocket costs.
  • Patients often pay less coinsurance for procedures performed in an ambulatory surgery center than comparable procedures in the hospital setting.

PTCOA ASC Model

  • PTCOA ASCs all contain Class C operating rooms.
  • Most of our locations have ten preoperative and postoperative beds, with exception of Little Rock and Searcy which have eight.
  • The PTCOA staff at each ASC consists of a highly trained team of receptionists, registered nurses, x-ray technicians, and certified surgical technologists with numerous combined years of perioperative surgical experience.
  • Experienced CRNAs are utilized between our ASCs and offer local, regional, monitored anesthesia care (MAC), and general anesthesia.
  • We offer the ability for surgeons to move between two operating rooms, which safely increases the volume of patients seen each day. This is important for both patient and provider satisfaction.
  • At the PTCOA ASCs, patient satisfaction is our number one priority. We believe this starts before the patient walks in the door by providing clear channels of communication and expectations.
